Da Lat

Đà Lạt is the capital of the province of Lâm Đồng. The weather is generally cool compared to the rest of the country. Due to the cooler weather, it was a popular city for the French fleeing the heat of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). From the early 1900s they further developed the city and built their holiday homes here and elegant French colonial villas can be found in the nearby area.

The city itself is centered around a lake and a golf course. The hilly landscape mainly consists of pine forests, lakes and waterfalls. It makes it a very popular destination for adrenaline-fueled activities.

Today, Dalat is the absolute Mecca for adrenaline-fueled activities, canyoning, zip lining, hiking, rappelling waterfalls, rock jumping and natural water slides. An adventurous day trip to nearby waterfalls such as Datanla waterfalls is every adrenaline junkie’s dream.

Motorcycle taxis have been a common street sight in Vietnam for many years. They are easy, inexpensive, and they maneuver easily through the often hectic and busy traffic. The Easy Riders concept originated from these motorcycle taxis and started to develop as people wanted to experience longer trips through the countryside, especially in the Dalat area of the Central Highlands. The name Easy Rider comes from an American journalist who visited Dalat to check the quality of the tours after hearing comments about it. The concept was clearly a success and the Dalat Easy Riders became more famous and popular. As with many things in Vietnam, when it becomes popular or successful, it is copied so nowadays you can see and see Easy Riders all over Vietnam. Most popular routes for so-called Easy Riders Tours are of course around Dalat for day trips, but multi-day tours from Dalat to Mui Ne or Nha Trang, or vice versa, are highly recommended.
