Pu Luong Nature Reserve becomes a great destination as a multi-day trip from Hanoi. Trekking in the forest and through long rice paddy fields and many beautiful small villages are among the activity’s travelers like. Pu Luong is among a few “off the beaten path” places near Hanoi that receives recommendations from explorers recently.

Day 1:

Hanoi – Pu Luong – Don Village – Uoi Village – 7m trekking (L-D)

07:00 Pick-up at your hotel in Old Quarter Hanoi.

10:00 Short break before entering Pu Luong Nature Reserve by road via a breathtaking mountain pass giving you a panoramic view     of the whole valley.

11:30 You’ll arrive at your accommodation where you’ll have some free time to explore the beautiful retreat, with its captivating panoramic views and tranquil setting.

12:00 It is time for a delicious lunch, then check in your room.

14.30 Start 2,5-hours trekking into the beautiful valley of Pu Luong with rice terraces around of your stay. We start to descend into the beautiful valley where you walk around tumbling rice terraces. We then walk through small paths shrouded in vegetation to slowly reveal a picturesque Uoi village sitting at the base of a towering mountain. Your camera will not be able to sit still when you see the panorama view of the village from above. We continue walking down hill to Uoi village before hiking to Leo village. If time permits, we will visit a local family where we can learn about their traditional brocade weaving (not guaranteed). On the way we can see local people work on the field and see daily life of them when we walking through their villages.

17.30 Back to your accommodation for some free time at the swimming pool and relax before enjoying dinner at the restaurant.

Day 2:

Hieu Water fall -Water wheels and bamboo raft on Cham River (B-L)

You can get up early to enjoy sun rise and see the clouds fly over the valley If weather is good.

07:30 Have breakfast

08:00 Short car ride to Hieu waterfall.

08:30 Arrive at the fall to walk along Hieu water fall to see the different levels of the fall and have a refreshing swim at the fall if it is not to cold.

10:00 We return to the car and drive to to Cham River.

10:30 Arriving at a local fisherman’s house for a short rest before getting on the bamboo raft. Float along the calm river and enjoy the views, in between learning how to paddle and steer your handcrafted rafts

11:30 We return by car to your accommodation.

12:00 Check out and enjoy lunch.

13:00 Pick-up and return to your hotel in Hanoi. Arrive around 18:00. Trip ends.

Useful information

Especially for the north and central Vietnam;

In the period between November and April, the weather is variable, from sunny to cold and rainy. It is advisable during this period to bring some rain gear with some warmer clothes. In the period from April to November, it is good to pack a hat with a wide brim, sunscreen (at least SPF15) and a reliable insect repellent. A thin rain poncho is useful all year round.

What do I need to know? 

During the period March to November it will good to pack your swimming gear, a towel, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen (at least SPF15), a reliable insect repellent, toiletries, a camera and lots of batteries. Warm clothing for the cooler months of November to March are advised. Taking luggage on the trip is no problem. Bringing a small daypack is always handy to hand carry for easy access to camera, sunscreen, water etc. Inhibitions can be left in the luggage storage rooms at your hotel with your other unwanted baggage.
