CU CHI TUNNELS AND MEKONG DELTA – MY THO – DAY TOUR (max 12p)

$68.00

The tunnels of Củ Chi are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels located in the Củ Chi district of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country. The tunnels were used by Viet Cong soldiers as hiding spots during combat, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous North Vietnamese fighters. The tunnel systems were of great importance to the Viet Cong in their resistance to American forces, and helped to counter the growing American military effort.

From the lushly verdant rice paddies of the rolling countryside to the rich and buzzing waterways that serve as a vital lifeline, the Mekong Delta is a place that never sleeps! You’ll sample its unique charm and exciting delights as you pass through each village. We run this day tour with maximum 12 people.

Pick up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. The trip to Cu Chi will take approximately one and a half hour by bus. Before exploring the tunnels, you will watch an introductory video about how the tunnels were made and how Vietnamese people survived in the harsh conditions of the wartime. Then, spend your time exploring the remaining areas and tunnel system which include special living areas with kitchens and bedrooms side by side with other martial facilities like weapon factories, field hospitals and a command center helping whoever lived inside the tunnels to meet their basic needs. Besides this, there are also many hidden trap doors and dangerous traps within the maze-like tunnels for security purpose during the war. Afterwards, special tea and cassava (guerrillas’ food during the war) will be served.

We’ll have lunch at the local restaurant.

Continue to visit My Tho city with a boat trip on the Tien River. Feel the light breeze from the river and enjoy the natural beauty of four beautiful islands, called Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Tortoise along the riverside.

Cruise through the small canal by sampan, treating yourself to the beauty of the countryside, and taking a short cycling around the village which will certainly be an unforgettable experience when participating in the Mekong Delta tour. Visit the coconut candy workshop and enjoy seasonal delicious fruits & honey tea. Get a chance to listen to the Southern Vietnamese folk music which is performed by local people before we return to Ho Chi Minh City where the trip ends.

Useful information

Especially for the north and central Vietnam;

In the period between November and April, the weather is variable, from sunny to cold and rainy. It is advisable during this period to bring some rain gear with some warmer clothes. In the period from April to November, it is good to pack a hat with a wide brim, sunscreen (at least SPF15) and a reliable insect repellent. A thin rain poncho is useful all year round.

The south of Vietnam is generally a lot warmer all year round, so warm clothing is not really necessary.

Get Up And Go Vietnam does everything to make your trip an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately, we have no control over weather conditions. Our apologies for that!
