Get Up & Go
Hanoi, in Northern Vietnam, is for many people the start to their Vietnam trip and fully understandable as most people want . The North has the best of Vietnam to offer in our opinion.
During the winter months of December till March the weather can be a bit more unpredictable, colder and it can even drizzle for a couple of days but don’t let that stop you! With Hanoi as central hub, the Northern part of Vietnam has great options, like Sapa and less visited Mu Cang Chai, with its terrace rice fields and many different ethnic people. As an alternative for Sapa we can highly recommend the area around Mai Chau and Pu Luong in particular. With stunning landscapes, Ha Gang by motorbike is almost a must see and of course a visit to majestic Halong Bay, or one of the less touristy areas of Bai Tu Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay should be on everyone’s list.
For nature lovers Ba Ba Lake National Park and the georgeous waterfalls at Ban Gioc are definitely worth a visit. Last stop often is the area around Ninh Binh – Tam Coc with its peaceful karst mountain scenery and wonderful boat rides. From here travelling South starts with the most impressive Caves of the country through parts of the original Ho Chi Minh Trail as a first major stop.
