Fantastic landscapes, magnificent sceneries and local life as we take you on a journey through the most beautiful parts of Vietnam. On this trip we take you on the best Ha Giang Northern Loop including a lovely boat ride on the Ngo River at the breathtaking Ma Pi Leng Pass. We pass through many local villages on one of the most beautiful mountain roads to Ban Gioc Waterfalls from where we visit the natural Beaty of Ba Be Lake National Park. We stay overnight at cozy, family run homestay where you’ll feel at home. For sure this will be a trip you’ll treasure the rest of your life…
Day 1: Hanoi – Ha Giang – Quan Ba – Yen Minh
Pick-up according to voucher time at your accommodation in Old Quarter Hanoi for the 6-hour comfortable journey by limousine bus to Ha Giang.
On arrival lunch will be ready and we will prepare you for the first part of your journey. We drive into the direction of Heaven’s Gate, the Twin Mountains in Quan Ba and visit the Hmong King’s Palace before arriving at the cozy, family run homestay for dinner and overnight.
Of course, we’ll make plenty of scenic stops along the way!

Day 2: Yen Minh – Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Ngo River – Meo Vac
After breakfast we’ll continue your adventure through this stunning part of Vietnam.
We make our way to Dong Van and from there we take you on the most thrilling road of your life! The Mã Pí Lèng Pass is a mountain pass in Vietnam at an altitude of 1.500m. The road was first built by minority Zao, Hmong, Tay and “Lolo people. It is a stunning road but also known as dangerous and almost 20 kilometers in length.
From the Ma Pi Leng Pass we will take you to the next highlight of your trip. We drive down into the valley from where we take you on a lovely, 2-hour, boat ride on the Ngo River through the canyon to give you an even more impressive feel of the area. Facilities are still fairly basic here and some slopes to get there are pretty steep so please understand.
We continue towards Meo Vac before arriving at the cozy, family run homestay for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Meo Vac – Bao Lac – Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfalls
After breakfast we’ll continue your adventure and travel through Bao Lac Province to Cao Bang and onwards to the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfalls, right at the border with China.
The area around Meo Vac is mainly inhabited by Black Lo Lo people, the area towards Bao Lac, where we’ll enjoy lunch and visit a local market, which is used by Black Lo Lo and San Chi people from the area.
More towards Cao Bang we will also visit a local market, used by Red Dzao and Tay people from the area before arriving at a cozy homestay close to the falls for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ban Gioc Waterfalls – Cao Bang – Ba Be Lake National Park
After breakfast we’ll visit the most impressive waterfall of Vietnam, the Ban Gioc Waterfall, right at the border with China.
The road that leads up to the falls is absolutely one of most beautiful in Vietnam.
We take enough time to let you visit the falls and take you on a leisurely bamboo raft to come up close with the falls.
We then make our way towards Ba Be National Park and have lunch on the way before arriving at the cozy, family run homestay, which is located at the most elevated location to give you the best views of the lake. Most people here are Tay.

Day 5: Ba Be Lake National Park
Today we’ll have a lovely day inside the National Park where we will do some hiking around Pac Ngoi Village and take a boat ride along the Nang River to Ba Be Lake, one of 20 biggest fresh lakes on the mountain in the world. On the way we stop at Puong cave, which is famous for its thousands of bats.
At Ba Be Lake (three lakes), we will also visit the An Ma Temple to learn more about the religions and beliefs in Vietnam.

Day 6: Ba Be Lake National Park – Hanoi
After a relax morning we take off towards Hanoi. On the way we will make some scenic stops and buy traditional bamboo sticky rice and stop at a tea plantation.
After lunch your driver will take you back to Hanoi where we’ll arrive around 5pm. He will drop you off at your accommodation where the trip ends.

Useful information
Especially for the north and central Vietnam;
In the period between November and April, the weather is variable, from sunny to cold and rainy. It is advisable during this period to bring some rain gear with some warmer clothes. In the period from April to November, it is good to pack a hat with a wide brim, sunscreen (at least SPF15) and a reliable insect repellent. A thin rain poncho is useful all year round.
The south of Vietnam is generally a lot warmer all year round, so warm clothing is not really necessary.

What do I need to know?
During the period March to November it will good to pack your swimming gear, a towel, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen (at least SPF15), a reliable insect repellent, toiletries, a camera and lots of batteries. Warm clothing for the cooler months of November to March is advised. How much luggage can I take? Your vehicle has limited space so please keep your luggage to a maximum of 15kgs in a backpack or soft over-night bag and include a small day pack to hand carry for easy access to camera, sunscreen, water etc. Inhibitions can be left in the luggage storage rooms at your hotel with your other unwanted baggage.
