Motorbike Adventure Vietnam – Ha Giang Loop by Motorbike – Trekking – Homestay – 4 Days and 3 Nights


Experience a real homestay in a traditional Tay village. Trekking through Tay Villages with no other tourists and enjoy the stunning terraced rice fields. Feel free on the back of our experienced riders when you soak up the stunning views when traveling through this remote and less visited part of Northern Vietnam. With this combination of trekking, real homestay and motorbike tour we will take you to the best spots in and around on the Northern Ha Giang Loop, like Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, Karst Plateau, Ma Pi leng Pass and Meo Vac.

Day 1

Hanoi – Ha Giang – Thon Tha

Today will start early. Your pick up service will pick you up in between 6:30 and 7:00 am from your hotel/ hostel in the Old Quarter of Hanoi to transfer you to the departure point of the limousine bus. The comfortable journey will take around 6 hours, estimated arrival around 14:00.

Upon arrival, we will pick you up and take you to the homestay in Thon Tha Village for lunch before we start a short 2-hour hike. Enjoy the peaceful and beautiful landscape while we hike through this stunning area, dotted with ethnic Tay villages. We return to the family run homestay for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Thon Tha – Khuoi My – Thon Tha

After breakfast we start trekking for 16km today! On the way we visit Khuoi My Village, inhabited by Dao ethnic people. This is a very small group that lives in the mountains surrounding the area and we will visit some traditional houses amongst the beautiful terraced rice fields.

We continue our way through the green forests before having lunch at a local family. At around 5pm we will be back at the homestay in Thon Tha to fresh-up and enjoy dinner with the family while enjoying some happy water (corn wine)!

Day 3

Thon Tha – Dong Van

After breakfast at around 8am we’ll start your motorbike adventure through this stunning part of Vietnam towards Dong Van.

We will of course take you to the best scenic places on the way and we’ll stop at several places to show you the best the area has to offer.  Among those, Heaven’s Gate, the Twin Mountains in Quan Ba, Hmong King’s Palace and Lung Tam Weaving Village. Lunch will be served on the way before arriving at our accommodation where dinner will be served later in the evening.

Day 4

Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac – Ha Giang

After breakfast we’ll make our way to the most thrilling ride of your life! The Mã Pí Lèng Pass is a mountain pass in Vietnam at an altitude of 1.500m. The road was first built by minority Zao, Hmong, Tay and “Lolo people. It is a stunning road but also known as dangerous and almost 20 kilometers in length.

We continue our thrilling ride and take you to Meo Vac, Yen Minh before arriving back in Ha Giang to fresh-up and take the 4pm limousine bus back to Hanoi. The trip back takes around 6-hours and the estimated arrival time will be around 10pm where the trip ends. Drop off will be at your stay in Old Quarter.

Useful information

Especially for the north and central Vietnam;

In the period between November and April, the weather is variable, from sunny to cold and rainy. It is advisable during this period to bring some rain gear with some warmer clothes. In the period from April to November, it is good to pack a hat with a wide brim, sunscreen (at least SPF15) and a reliable insect repellent. A thin rain poncho is useful all year round.

The south of Vietnam is generally a lot warmer all year round, so warm clothing is not really necessary.

What do I need to know? 

During the period March to November it will good to pack your swimming gear, a towel, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen (at least SPF15), a reliable insect repellent, toiletries, a camera and lots of batteries. Warm clothing for the cooler months of November to March is advised. How much luggage can I take? Your vehicle has limited space so please keep your luggage to a maximum of 15kgs in a backpack or soft over-night bag and include a small day pack to hand carry for easy access to camera, sunscreen, water etc. Inhibitions can be left in the luggage storage rooms at your hotel with your other unwanted baggage.
