Đồng Hới is the capital city of Quảng Bình Province in the north central coast of Vietnam and has a 12-km-long coastline with white sand beaches. Đồng Hới is the closest city to Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park, UNESCO's World Natural Heritage Site located 50 km north of the city.
There are wonderful day tours to the magnificent Phong Nha, Paradise & Paradise Caves in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bang National Park.
Phong Nha, 7,729 metres long and containing 14 grottoes, as well as a 13,969 meter underground river, it’s the second largest cave in Vietnam.
Only open to the public since 2011, Paradise Cave is hidden deep within the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, 14km southwest of Son Trach, and shrouded by dense forest and looming karst peaks. This remarkable cave system extends for 31km, although only a kilometre or so is accessible, and is reputed to be the longest dry cave in the world.
The diminutive cave mouth is accessed by a 500-step staircase and once inside the sheer scale of Paradise Cave is truly breath-taking! A Wooden staircase descends into this cathedral-like space, encircled with colossal stalagmites and glistening stalactites of white crystal that resemble glass pillars.
Dark cave is a true adventurous experience, kayaking over the river to get there, walking through the dark with only the head touch on your mining helmet, having a mud fight in the mud baths deep in the cave and then washing clean with a swim in the lake inside the cave. To top it of experience a thrilling zip line ride.
