Itinerary day 2: Sa Dec – Long Xuyen
Breakfast will be served onboard and we’ll start this morning with cycling through the village of An Phu Dong. For hundreds of years this village has provided Saigon with its daily flower supply.
We’ll continue to explore this charming town, which was the backdrop for the film ‘The Lover’, based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Marguerite Duras. The story is about a teenage French girl who falls in love with a wealthy Chinese man, Huynh Thuy Le. You will visit his old family home as well as the high school where Marguerite’s mother was a teacher.
We return to your boat, fresh up, and relax before we start cruising to Long Xuyen, we will stop on the way to explore more of the local villages by bike or foot. This will be a great chance to interact with the friendly locals.
We return to your boat where lunch will be served.
As we keep cruising you will start to notice more houses on stilts and an increase of flooded fields. This area is prone to severe flooding and as a result, is one of the Delta’s poorest regions.
Arrive in Long Xuyen, you can stop for a good picture of the Long Xuyen floating market during the sunset. Freshen up and prepare for your dinner on board. Your cruise will anchor near Chau Doc where you can spend the remainder of the evening at your leisure.
