This 2-day Mekong Delta Cruise from Cai Be to Can Tho in the heart of the Mekong Delta is a great way to experience the essence of the Delta. The waterway of Vietnam, with its verdant landscape, small canals, local businesses and fantastic Vietnamese and traditional Mekong food and friendly people.

Day 1

At 8.00am your private driver will pick you up for the 2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City to Cai Be, one of the country’s southern provinces, situated in the Delta of the Mekong River. Take in the countryside rice fields and the small villages around the immense waterways.

In between 10:30 – 11:30 we will bring you by small motor boat from the harbor in Cai Be to your cruise for a welcome drink and to check into your cabin. On this cruise we make the journey from Cai Be via Cho Lach and Tra On to Can Tho, the heart of the Mekong Delta.

Enjoy lunch on the cruise before we take you for a pleasant walking or biking trip in the Delta’s countryside. We’ll visit a tropical fruit orchard where local farmers will show you around.

We continue cruising the Mekong River towards Tra On while you can enjoy local life passing by on the river banks and the sunset on the river. Dinner will be served early evening on board. Overnight on the cruise.

Day 2

After breakfast we continue cruising towards Can Tho. Enjoy the magnificent sunrise on the river and the lovely sceneries along the river banks while we cruise up the Bassac. On arrival in Can Tho it is time to check-out. We continue by small motor boat to explore Cai Rang Floating Market one of the most bustling floating markets in Mekong Delta with small local boats barging and jostling for space as owners attempt to sell their goods. At around 10am we disembark at Ninh Kieu tourist harbor from where your driver will transfer you back to your accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City or ongoing travel destination.

Useful information

Especially for the north and central Vietnam;

In the period between November and April, the weather is variable, from sunny to cold and rainy. It is advisable during this period to bring some rain gear with some warmer clothes. In the period from April to November, it is good to pack a hat with a wide brim, sunscreen (at least SPF15) and a reliable insect repellent. A thin rain poncho is useful all year round.

The south of Vietnam is generally a lot warmer all year round, so warm clothing is not really necessary.

What do I need to know? 

During the period March to November it will good to pack your swimming gear, a towel, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen (at least SPF15), a reliable insect repellent, toiletries, a camera and lots of batteries. Warm clothing for the cooler months of November to March is advised. How much luggage can I take? Your vehicle has limited space so please keep your luggage to a maximum of 15kgs in a backpack or soft over-night bag and include a small day pack to hand carry for easy access to camera, sunscreen, water etc. Inhibitions can be left in the luggage storage rooms at your hotel with your other unwanted baggage.
