Itinerary Details Day 2: Dong Hoi – Dark Cave – Paradise Cave – Dong Hoi - Hue
From the train station (arrival time depending on your train) our driver (he will show a sign with your name(s)) will pick you up and take you to the hotel for breakfast. You can leave your luggage that you don’t want to take on this day safely behind! At around 8 a.m. we’ll start this beautiful and adventurous day to the 2 most impressive caves in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park.
The first exploration of this day will be Paradise cave is the longest dry cave in Asia!
Thiên Đường Cave, or Paradise Cave, is a cave in Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 60km Northwest of Đồng Hới city. Thiên Đường Cave is located on an elevation of 200 meters above the sea level, near the west branch of the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail. Karst peaks surround the area of the cave and its remarkable cave system extends for 31km, though most people only visit the first kilometer. The scale is breath taking, as wooden staircases descend into a cathedral-like space with colossal stalagmites and glimmering stalactites.
After lunch, we will go for Dark cave.
Dark cave is a true experience, kayaking over the river to get there, walking through the dark with only the head torch on your mining helmet, having a mud fight in the mud baths deep in the cave and then washing yourself clean with a swim in the lake inside the cave.
Activities: Muddy bath, zip lining, swimming, kayaking. Bring swim wear!
At around 5 p.m. we will be back in Dong Hoi at the hotel to enjoy dinner.
If you travel on by bus to Hue, you will be picked up at the hotel at around 6pm.
If you travel by train, we will arrange the private car to drop you off at the train station. Train leaves Dong Hoi at 7.40pm - estimated arrival time in Hue is 10.42pm.
