HANOI - COUNTRYSIDE CYCLING TOUR:
Co Loa is a first ancient citadel of Vietnam, which is located in the North of Hanoi, with beautiful rice paddy fields, Old villages, series of pagodas & temples. Especially with its unique vestige “ Three rings of citadel”. It is one of the closest places, where you can see the real countryside of Northern Vietnam.
8am – Our tour guide will come to your hotel to meet you. If your hotel is located in the heart of the Old Quarter, the one-day cycling tour begins with a short walk through the Hanoi’s Old Quarter. You will walk through the Dong Xuan market, the ancient gate of the citadel of Hanoi and the Long Bien Bridge before arriving at the departure point. If you stay a little further outside of the Old Quarter, we will take a taxi to the bike rental place.
8.30am – After a brief introduction to the use of our bicycles and the biking road, we begin our adventure by cycling along the Red River. Visit the middle island along the riverside. Then continue cycling until we reach the Long Bien Bridge. Cycle across the Long Bien bridge to Ngoc Thuy village.
10am – Start pedaling through small alleys of Bac Bien village to the Duong river’s bank. Then take a local boat ferry to cross the river to its left bank. Ride a bike along the dike, from villages to villages where we can see many traditional typical houses, pagodas, temples, and local market. We also drive through beautiful rice paddy fields, gardens of vegetables and corns. Have a drink with a local family in the village to know more about their life, and the changes of the village & surrounding area.
11am – Continue cycling to Co Loa. When we arrive Co Loa Citadel, we have a rest at a “local bar” in Co Loa to have a iced green tea/ coffee or sugar cane juice and hear about the interesting historical story about An Duong Vuong’s dynasty over 2000 thousand years ago.
11.30am – Visit An Duong Vuong King temple. Then, cycling around the vestige of citadel with the beautiful gardens, rice paddy fields, villages.
1pm – Have lunch where we get traditional Vietnamese food at a local restaurant.
2pm – Pedal through some other villages to a dike of the Red river, cross 2 villages outside of the dyke. We’ll visit a local house in traditional style to have a conversation with the villagers to understand more about their lives, works. Cycling on the dyke along the Red river, we will see the meeting point of 2 rivers. We stop under an old tree by the river for drinks, snacks, and photos. Heading back to the ferry. Crossing the Duong River by ferry again.
3.30pm – Stop at a local temple, which is located by the Red river. If we’re lucky enough, we will see a unique ceremony of Vietnamese people – “Len Dong” or “ Going into a trance”. This ceremony is very interesting and unique.
At around 05.00 pm – We reach the bike rental place. After returning the mountain bikes, we take a taxi or car back to your hotel.
