Đà Lạt, in the Southern part of the Central Highland, is the capital of Lâm Đồng Province. The weather, in general, is nicely spring like cool, compared with the rest of the country. Because of the cooler weather it was a popular town for the French who were fleeing the heat of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). From the early 1900’s they further developed the town and built their holiday homes here and elegant French colonial villas can be found in the nearby area.
The terraced hills surrounding the town are extremely suitable for the conversion of flowers and vegetables. The area and especially towards the north is famous for its coffee.
The town itself is centred around a lake and a golf course. The hilly countryside is mainly pine forests, lakes and waterfalls and that makes it a very popular destination for adrenaline-fueled activities.
Some landmarks worth visiting here are:
Today, Dalat is the absolute mecca when it comes to canyoning, zip lining, hiking, rappelling from waterfalls - rock jumping and water sliding. An adventurous day trip at nearby waterfalls like Datanla waterfalls is every adrenaline junkie's dream.
Motorbike taxi's (or xe ôm) are a common sight on streets in Vietnam for many years. They are easy, cheap and they easily maneuver through the often hectic and busy traffic. The concept of Easy Riders has its origin from these xe ôm riders and started to develop when people wanted to experience longer rides through the countryside, especially in the area of Dalat in the Central Highlands. The name Easy Rider comes from an American journalist who visited Dalat to check out the quality of the tours after hearing comments about it. The concept was clearly a success and the Dalat Easy Riders got more known and popular. As with a lot of things in Vietnam, when it gets popular or successful it is copied so nowadays you hear and see Easy Riders throughout Vietnam. Most popular routes for so called Easy Riders Tours are of course around Dalat for day tours but also multi day tours from Dalat to Mui Ne or Nha Trang, or the other way around, are highly recommended. Another beautiful route is the trip that takes you over the Hai Van Pass between Hoi An and Hue or up North, in the area of Ha Giang and Dong Van. As Get Up And Go Vietnam we only work with the best and that also includes the original Dalat Easy Riders.
