Today your tour guide will warmly welcome you at your hotel in Battambang to start this marvelous city tour. We first visit the Ek Phnom Temple, which is an 11th century Angkorian-era ruin built as a Hindu temple under Suryavarman I. The temple consists of prasats (local name for palaces or temples) on a platform with some carvings in pretty good condition. Wat Ek Phnom, a modern pagoda, sits next to the ruin. The river road drive to Ek Phnom from Battambang passes through small villages and rice paddies and is an absolutely beautiful countryside drive. We enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and after lunch we visit a market where Prahoc, the famous Cambodian fish paste, is made. We continue to visit the place where local people make steam-sticky rice cooked in bamboo.

We return to town for a short walk to the local market.

Trip ends when we will drop you off at your hotel.

What do I need to know?

Battambang Climate;

Cambodia has a tropical monsoon climate. During the rainy season between mid-April and mid-October the Mekong swells and backs into the Tonle Sap (Great Lake), increasing the size of the lake almost threefold. Between November and April winds are less strong and there are higher temperatures (up to 35oC). General information about the climate:

Rainy season: June - October (<31oC)

- Cool season: November- February (>26oC)

- Hot season: March- May : Temperature: from 28oC -35oC

The dry season covers the remaining four months. The city averages approximately 1500 mm of rainfall per year. It will be good to take a daypack, a wide brimmed hat, sunscreen (at least SPF15), a reliable insect repellent, a camera and lots of batteries.

Get Up and Go is doing all possible to make your journey and travel experience an unforgettable one. Weather conditions, we unfortunately cannot control. Our apologies for that!
